The Invariant Two-Parameter Function of Algebras ψ
At present, the research on invariant functions for algebras is very extended since Hrivnák
and Novotný defined in 2007 the invariant functions y and j as a tool to study the Inönü–Wigner
contractions (IW-contractions), previously introduced by those authors in 1953. In this paper, we introduce
a new invariant two-parameter function of algebras, which we call ¯y, as a tool which makes easier the
computations and allows researchers to deal with contractions of algebras. Our study of this new function
is mainly focused in Malcev algebras of the type Lie, although it can also be used with any other types of
algebras. The main goal of the paper is to prove, by means of this function, that the five-dimensional
classical-mechanical model built upon certain types of five-dimensional Lie algebras cannot be obtained
as a limit process of a quantum-mechanical model based on a fifth Heisenberg algebra. As an example of
other applications of the new function obtained, its computation in the case of the Lie algebra induced
by the Lorentz group SO(3, 1) is shown and some open physical problems related to contractions are
also formulated.Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación MTM2013-40455-PMinisterio de Ciencia e Innovación FQM-326 (J.N.-V.)Junta de Andalucía FQM-160 (P.P.-F.

HIGEA: An Intelligent Conversational Agent to Detect Caregiver Burden
Mental health disorders increasingly affect people worldwide. As a consequence, more
families and relatives find themselves acting as caregivers. Most often, these are untrained people
who experience loneliness, abandonment, and often develop signs of depression (i.e., caregiver
burden syndrome). In this work, we present HIGEA, a digital system based on a conversational agent
to help to detect caregiver burden. The conversational agent naturally embeds psychological test
questions into informal conversations, which aim at increasing the adherence of use and avoiding
user bias. A proof-of-concept is developed based on the popular Zarit Test, which is widely used to
assess caregiver burden. Preliminary results show the system is useful and effective
Energy Efficiency of Personal Computers: A Comparative Analysis
The demand for electricity related to Information and Communications Technologies is
constantly growing and significantly contributes to the increase in global greenhouse gas emissions.
To reduce this harmful growth, it is necessary to address this problem from different perspectives.
Among these is changing the computing scale, such as migrating, if possible, algorithms and processes
to the most energy efficient resources. In this context, this paper explores the possibility of running
scientific and engineering programs on personal computers and compares the obtained power
efficiency on these systems with that of mainframe computers and even supercomputers. Anecdotally,
this paper also shows how the power efficiency obtained for the same workloads on personal
computers is similar to that obtained on supercomputers included in the Green500 ranking.Spanish GovernmentEuropean Commission PGC2018-098813-B-C31

Temporal Phase Synchrony Disruption in Dyslexia: Anomaly Patterns in Auditory Processing
The search for a dyslexia diagnosis based on exclusively
objective methods is currently a challenging task. Usually, this disorder
is analyzed by means of behavioral tests prone to errors due to their subjective
nature; e.g. the subject’s mood while doing the test can affect the
results. Understanding the brain processes involved is key to proportionate
a correct analysis and avoid these types of problems. It is in this task,
biomarkers like electroencephalograms can help to obtain an objective
measurement of the brain behavior that can be used to perform several
analyses and ultimately making a diagnosis, keeping the human interaction
at minimum. In this work, we used recorded electroencephalograms
of children with and without dyslexia while a sound stimulus is played.
We aim to detect whether there are significant differences in adaptation
when the same stimulus is applied at different times. Our results show
that following this process, a machine learning pipeline can be built with
AUC values up to 0.73.Spanish Government PGC2018-098813-BC32

Multiprotocol Authentication Device for HPC and Cloud Environments Based on Elliptic Curve Cryptography
Multifactor authentication is a relevant tool in securing IT infrastructures combining two or
more credentials. We can find smartcards and hardware tokens to leverage the authentication process,
but they have some limitations. Users connect these devices in the client node to log in or request access
to services. Alternatively, if an application wants to use these resources, the code has to be amended
with bespoke solutions to provide access. Thanks to advances in system-on-chip devices, we can
integrate cryptographically robust, low-cost solutions. In this work, we present an autonomous device
that allows multifactor authentication in client–server systems in a transparent way, which facilitates
its integration in High-Performance Computing (HPC) and cloud systems, through a generic gateway.
The proposed electronic token (eToken), based on the system-on-chip ESP32, provides an extra layer
of security based on elliptic curve cryptography. Secure communications between elements use
Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) to facilitate their interconnection. We have evaluated
different types of possible attacks and the impact on communications. The proposed system offers an
efficient solution to increase security in access to services and systems.Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (MICINN)

Energy-aware Load Balancing of Parallel Evolutionary Algorithms with Heavy Fitness Functions in Heterogeneous CPU-GPU Architectures
By means of the availability of mechanisms such as Dynamic Voltage and Frequency
Scaling (DVFS) and heterogeneous architectures including processors with different
power consumption profiles, it is possible to devise scheduling algorithms aware of
both runtime and energy consumption in parallel programs. In this paper, we propose and evaluate a multi-objective (more specifically, a bi-objective) approach to
distribute the workload among the processing cores in a given heterogeneous parallel CPU-GPU architecture. The aim of this distribution may be either to save energy
without increasing the running time or to reach a trade-off among time and energy
consumption. The parallel programs considered here are master-worker evolutionary algorithms where the evaluation of the fitness function for the individuals in the
population demands the most part of the computing time. As many useful bioinformatics and data mining applications exhibit this kind of parallel profile, the proposed
energy-aware approach for workload scheduling could be frequently applied.Spanish Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad under grant TIN2015-67020-PERDF fun
